Motivation…
Motivation can be as elusive as it is powerful. Here’s how to make it stick.
Like anything else in life, motivations come and go. But! Like most other things in life, it doesn’t have to be as complicated as it is complex. Motivation is action fueled by curiosity and desire, aimed at a well defined objective.
Not complicated. Very complex.
(Objective+Desire) + Action x Curiosity = Motivation
A formula may seem too simple for how intricate life can be but give it a shot (even if it’s just to prove me wrong).
Find an objective, a clear cut goal that you can quantify. Be specific about “What” and “When”, the “How” comes later.
Ask yourself why this objective came to mind. What’s so exciting about it? Why do you want that thing?
Add a little action to the mix. Find one thing you could do about it today that would put you on the trail that leads to your objective.
Next, get curious. Curiosity will be the factor that determines how far this motivation goes. If it’s an objective that you truly desire, this won’t be difficult. Go deep! Do research! Become an expert on the subject. The more curiosity you can muster, the easier that second action will be! The sooner you take that second action, the easier it will be to stay curious.
Action fueled by curiosity and desire aimed at a well defined objective. Our brains are powerful tools that don’t get the credit they deserve. Give it a shot and see what you find.
This formula isn’t a secret, it’s psychology and it is very complex. The complexities of life are what allows us to be curious which allows us to take action. Action reveals more complexities which fuels curiosity. This cycle is called Motivation..
When motivation wanes, get curious!
